See The World from Our View

Environments, programs, and communities where people with disabilities can fully participate, contribute, and thrive—recognizing and addressing physical, social, and institutional barriers-this is disability advocacy and inclusion. This is Our View. Some of the earliest disability advocacy work and the fight for the equal rights for those in the disability community within the United States of America dates back to the 1800s with the creation of the Connecticut Asylum for the Education and Instruction of Deaf and Dumb Persons, the first permanent school for the deaf in America, and the invention of Braille.

The movement continued through the 1900s with the signing of legislation like the Social Security Act, Brown v. Board of Education, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Across the nation, approximately 42.5 million Americans, or 13% of the civilian non-institutionalized population identify as having a disability. In New Jersey, about 10.2% of residents—nearly 890,000 people—live with disabilities, with prevalence ranging between 8% and 15% depending on the county.

Among children nationwide, over 3 million under age 18 (4.3%) experience a disability such as cognitive, hearing, or mobility impairments. Inclusive play is crucial in this landscape—when children and adults of all abilities engage together, they build understanding, empathy, and belonging, while developing social and cognitive skills.

Days of Play

Miracle League Baseball

Miracle League Baseball

Do you remember visiting the playground on your recess at lunch? Or going to your local neighborhood park after school, on the weekends or in the summer?

This is something that many disabled children are unable to enjoy, because their school and local playgrounds are oftentimes not accessible and cannot accommodate their needs.

Our View and our partners collaborate to provide days of play for the many local students with disabilities who do not have access to an inclusive playground.

We operate our Days of Play 8 times a year; once a week in month of October and once a week in the month of May.

The Days of play are open to schools (classrooms) and adult programs that serve individuals with disabilities.

Our View covers the cost of the bus transportation to and from the playground, and we also provide a pizza party lunch for all students, staff members, and chaperones.

For more information, and to start planning your day of play, e-mail our Executive Director, Art Aston:

At the Camden County New Jersey Miracle League (CCNJML), we believe everyone deserves the chance to play baseball! Our inclusive league is specially designed for children (ages 5 and up) and adults of all ages in the disabled community, offering a fun, supportive, and safe environment to enjoy America’s favorite pastime.

Each player is paired with a “buddy”, a volunteer aged 12 or older who assists during the game as needed. Whether it’s helping a player bat, run the bases, or field the ball, our buddies are there to ensure every player has the chance to shine and, most importantly, have fun!

We host 8-week spring seasons and 6-week fall seasons, with games played on Saturday and Sunday mornings at our home field, Boundless Field, located in Challenge Grove Park in Cherry Hill, NJ, right beside the award-winning Jake’s Place All-Inclusive Playground.

101 Bortons Mill Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034

Want to get in the game or become a buddy?

Visit www.ccnjml.org to learn more and register as a player or buddy. Registration for fall opens in July, and registration for spring opens in February.

The Camden County NJ Miracle League is proudly founded and operated by Our View — creating inclusive play experiences for all.
